Description :

NEW - Apogee AI-AFW30-7R Series Filter Wheels for Ascent Models - Available July 2007
The AI-AFW30-7R filter wheel provides a precision photometric filtering solution for many of the Ascent series of imaging systems. The wheel plugs directly into the front of the Ascent camera, using the integrated Ascent Peripheral Interface for power and control. A 2-inch slip fit adapter is available for mounting on telescopes. Coupled with the optional Nikon F-mount lens adapter, the camera and filter wheel can be easily mounted to any F-mount lens, or to any microscope with an Nikon F-mount camera adapter. The AI-AFW30-7R filter wheel was specifically designed as a photometric wheel for advanced astronomy applications. The AI-AFW30-7R filter wheel is not compatible with the larger Ascent systems, such as the A9, A8300, A105, A11000, and A16000. For those requiring larger filters for photometric filter applications, the Optec IFW or Apogee FW50 filter wheels are recommended. Apogee also offers the Astrodon filter sets for this wheel, or the customer can specify alternatives.

Model: AI-AFW25-4R

Description :

Apogee AI-AFW25-4R Series Filter Wheels for Ascent Models

The AI-AFW25-4R filter wheel provides a fast compact filtering solution for many of the Ascent series of imaging systems. The AI-AFW25-4R filter wheel was specifially designed as an entry level visual RGB or CMY wheel for astronomy, and with faster transition time between filters for faster image acquisition and for microscopy applications. The AI-AFW25-4R filter wheel is not compatible with the larger Ascent systems, such as the A9, A8300, A105, A11000, and A16000. For those requiring larger filters or photometric filter applications, the Optec IFW or Apogee FW50 filter wheels are recommended. For photometric applications with smaller Ascent CCDs (less then 27mm diag), the AI-AFW30-7R Series filter wheel is recommended. For photometric applications with larger Ascent CCDs (more then 27mm diag), the AI-AFW50-5R Series filter wheel is recommended.

Model: Optec IFW Intelligent Filter Wheel

Description :

Optec IFW Intelligent Filter Wheel for Alta and Ascent Models
The Optec Intelligent Filter Wheel (does not include filters) brings to astronomy a new level of sophisticated equipment for the benefit of the astro-imager. Astro-imaging in this age of astronomy requires the use of many color filters and the management of these filters during an observational session can sometimes be confusing. The use of the wrong filter could easily spoil an otherwise successful imaging run.

  • 50mm or 2" filters with 5 mounted in each wheel

  • Standalone or PC interface with popular CCD cameras or control software

The Optec IFW has the ability to determine the identification (ID) of a particular wheel and apply that wheel ID to a preprogrammed set of filters. The names, not just position numbers of these filters, are read on the eight character display and are also available to the camera operating software via a serial interface using a simple command structure. Up to 5 different filter wheels can have separate IDs and each wheel can have up to 5 filters for a total of 25 identifiable filters.

Model: Apogee LR001

Description :

Apogee LR001 - Liquid Recirculation/Chiller Unit
The LR001 Liquid Recirculation / Chiller Unit provides precise control of the temperature of recirculated liquid for optimal cooling despite ambient temperature fluctuations. The unit removes heat from the vicinity of the camera, preventing atmospheric turbulence. The unit is best suited for use with the Alta and AP cameras with optional adaptation for liquid circulation.

As with most Apogee systems, a liquid recirculation plate has been developed to remove heat from the camera body to reduce warm air disturbance around the camera. Note that this option should be given careful consideration. Application in high humidity/dew point environments are incompatible with a chilled liquid system of this type. The typical air cooled performance is more than adequate for most applications.

Model: Astrodon® Filters

Description :

Astrodon® tru-balance filters are the first filters designed to match the sensitivity of modern CCD cameras. Using filters matched with the detectors greatly simplifies all aspects of deep-sky tri-color imaging. Benefits include shorter imaging times, G2V white point balance, balanced OIII nebula color, and pre-balanced RGB channels when using Kodak Blue Plus CCDs.

They are an outgrowth of over a year and a half of research, published in Sky and Telescope and presented at AstroImage and Imaging the Sky conferences. The narrowband filters, H a, SII and OIII, allow you to image when the moon is up, thereby extending the amount of imaging time you have each month. Since they are parfocal with the LRGB filters, you can easily focus on the L or C filter and then switch to the narrowband filter WITHOUT refocusing.
